“Mantras, Chants & Mystical Images” an exhibition of encaustic monotypes by Marcia Cole April 6 through April 30, 2017. Marcia Cole is a multimedia artist whose work has a lush, organic surface quality and a contemporary and timeless visual encounter. Her encaustic monotypes communicate myriad meaning — inspired by the concept of energy as a connecting field, a resonating signature of life and source. The resulting polychromatic strata is reminiscent of cyclic hymns, and of fluxing landscapes. Bands of uniquely produced pigment suggest a natural progression and environmental awareness, surprising palettes and finite detail delight the viewer, while the endless significance provokes deeper thought and emotional connection. In a visual way, the art plays on a transformative plane between earthly and spiritual realms. This exhibition features more than two dozen encaustic monotypes embellished with watercolor, oil paint and gold leaf.
