The Perfect Time (and Place) For A Wedding
Next Saturday, August 6th, will be my tenth wedding anniversary and it seems that I am not the only person who knows that summer is the perfect time of year to get married in Ulster County. A quick review of our tourism partners' Facebook pages shows that many of them have been busy hosting weddings. We've been treated to lovely pictures of mountain weddings from Ashokan Dreams B & B, lakeside weddings at Twin Lakes Resort, country club weddings at Lazy Swan Golf and Country Club and video of the most spectacular farm wedding at Libertyview Farms (visit www.libertyviewfarm.biz and click on the link: Sooji and Albert's wedding teaser).
Our well-known destination locations such as the Emerson in Mount Tremper, Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa in Milton, Honor's Haven Resort in Ellenville and Mohonk Mountain House tell us they have been busy since wedding season began in May, and that was BEFORE New York's Marriage Equality Act became law. It does seem as though since this past Sunday the world has gone wedding crazy, and we couldn't be happier that everyone gets to join in the party. To celebrate, some of our locations have come up with special deals and packages designed specifically for gay and lesbian couples. You can find them by going to our Lodging section and clicking the button on the right-hand side of the page reading: Special Lodging Packages. Our new wedding deals from welcoming hosts are listed at the top of the page. With the wealth of options available in Ulster County, no matter how you want to celebrate your love, we are the perfect place for you to say your "I dos."
As for me, this is my second marriage, although it is to my first love. You see, Michael and I dated in high school. We held a beautiful immediate-family-only reception at the Inn at Stone Ridge. Their lush gardens and magnificently appointed grounds, along with their spectacular food and the joyousness of our families has made the day a series of cherished memories that we relive each year. So here's to you making your memory here too- Cheers!
